Founded in 1916 as “A Scout Adventureland Forever,” Camp Yawgoog is situated on 1800 acres of beautiful wilderness in Rockville, Rhode Island (bordering Connecticut). Yawgoog is divided into three separate Camps: Three Point, Medicine Bow and Sandy Beach. The atmosphere of healthy Camp competition is a unique aspect of the Yawgoog experience. Yawgoog Scout Reservation is a part of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Camp Yawgoog is located at 61 Camp Yawgoog Road in Rockville, RI. See the printable directions for multiple routes for getting to camp.
No troops will be allowed to move into their campsite until 5:30 PM on Sunday evening. Please do not arrive before 5:30 PM. At 5:30 PM, we will start bringing our gear to the camp site. Only one car is allowed in the site at a time and we will appreciate your patience as it takes time to shuttle everyone’s gear into the site. Troop 68 is located in Camp SANDY BEACH at the BACKWOODS camp site.
There is no meal service on Sunday evening. Be sure to FEED YOUR SCOUT before arriving at camp. There are numerous eateries on Rt. 138 next to I-95.
At around 11:00 AM Troop 68 plans to hold a Court of Honor in our camp site. Parents are encouraged to arrive and visit our campsite at this time.
After the Court of Honor, while the scouts are packing up, eating lunch and preparing for closing ceremonies, parents and visitors relocate to Bucklin Memorial (main building) and the parade grounds. There is a great chicken BBQ (tickets available online at http://www.yawgoog.org) or you can visit one of the eateries on route 138. Scouts are not allowed to attend the BBQ and are not dismissed until after the closing ceremonies.
At 12:45 PM, the dress parade and closing ceremonies take place at the field by the main building (near the BBQ). Be sure to bring a camera (and perhaps a folding chair). Scouts are dismissed immediately after closing ceremonies (approx. 1:30 PM).
Mail from home is always appreciated. Camper mail should be addressed exactly as shown below. US Mail (1st Class/Priority Mail) takes two days. UPS Ground delivers next business day, Monday through Friday.
