Troop 68 Parent’s Meeting

April 3, 2000

St. Theresa School

The following people were in attendance: Andy Spalla, Mike Abrahamson, Mark Carpenter Sr., Mark Carpenter Jr., Bill Amidon, Theresa Davis, Rebecca Beaudoin, Frank Chudy, Jill Golrick, Carole Knudsen, Richard Alesevich, Steve Lemoine, Marsha Moore, Rob Miller, Joseph Rescsanski.

The meeting was called to order by Andy Spalla at 7:43PM, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary’s Report

The minutes of the last meeting were accepted.

Treasurer’s Report

A statement of the accounts was distributed.

There are still unpaid dues. Please encourage payment at the next meeting.

All of the Scout accounts are balance and available.

Scoutmaster’s Report

A printed report was distributed.

We are ready for West Point. The last month's meetings and campout have been spent preparing. There will be 25 boys and 7 adults attending.

The dates for the summer trip were changed. We will be leaving at 5:00AM on Thursday July 13th and returning on Sunday afternoon July 16th. The plans include various hikes in Washington DC, a visit to Manassas Battlefield, and a visit to the Aberdeen Ordinance Museum.

The Order of the Arrow elections will be held on April 14th. All Scouts are encouraged to attend.

The Troop will be participating in a town-wide cleanup on April 15th from 1-3PM. We will be working along White Plains Road. The town will be providing all the materials along with police for safety.

Troop JLT, originally scheduled for June 10 will be rescheduled.

Old Business

The voice mail system, to be used to supplement patrol calls, is still being investigated. A local access number needs to be obtained. A motion to increase the monthly cost to $15 was approved.

New Business

The Council will be sending someone to give a presentation on the Friends of Scouting fundraiser. Our Troop will be eligible for the first $300 raised as camperships. This does not mean we will get them, but our boys can apply for them. A motion was approved to allow the presentation at the June Court of Honor.

Complement were accepted for the Troop web site.

Mr. Rescsanski led a discussion on Lyme disease and it's prevention.
