Troop 68 Parent’s Meeting

December 6, 1999

St. Theresa School

The following people were in attendance: Virginia Perreault, Theresa Davis, Andy Spalla, Paul Viggiano, Mike Abrahamson, Mark Carpenter Sr., Mark Carpenter Jr., Bill Amidon, Jill Golrick, Brian Golrick, Alice Card, Sarah Beth DeMent, Kathleen Pierce-Blagys.

The meeting was called to order by Andy Spalla at 7:38PM, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary’s Report

The minutes of the last meeting were accepted.

Treasurer’s Report

A statement of the accounts was distributed.

Due’s and fundraiser money is coming in.

December is recharter month, The bill is expected to be about $2000.

Scoutmaster’s Report

A printed report was distributed.

Everything is on track and running smoothly.

The merger of the Nutmeg and Saginaw Districts will be completed on December 7. The new district will be named the Pomperaug District.

Calendar

12/10 – Caroling at Bishop Curtis House, Palisades Ave., Bridgeport.

12/11,12 – Campout at Webb Mountain. The trip will start Saturday morning. Everyone will meet at Old Mine Park at 8:00AM.

12/14 - District Roundtable

12/17 – Holiday Party and Court of Honor

12/17 – All popcorn money is due back.

1/3 – Parent’s meeting

1/11 – District Roundtable

1/21,22,23 – District Camporee - Klondike Derby – Putnam Park in Redding (this is a change of location from the calendar).

Committee Reports

Popcorn sales were over $2200. The troop profit is about 34%.

The candy bar sale will resume in January. Boxes will be available at the meetings.

The rechartering for 2000 will take place this month. We are registering about 65 boys and 50 adults.

Old Business

The Quartermaster has purchased 4 cook stands, 1 utensil set, 1 cook set, and some miscellaneous parts. The total cost came to $270. We still need 1 stand and 2 water jugs. The additional cost is $50. A motion was made and passed to spend about $100, $50 to cover the overspend from last month’s motion and $50 for the additional supplies.

Announcements

The Quartermaster requests that all gear be cleaned and returned on the Wednesday after the camping trip. It makes it easier to keep track of the gear and prepare it for the next trip.

Final forms for gear checkout/return are prepared. Price list for the gear is being mailed to the Scout homes. Scouts will be responsible for replacing lost gear.
