Troop 68 Parents' Meeting
August 23, 1999
St. Theresa School
The following 14 parents were present: Mark Carpenter, Mike Abrahamson, Andy Spalla, Tim Ryan, Michael Golrick, Bill Amidon, Craig Voytek, Deena Begin, Steve Lemoine, Frank Katona, Marieta Stone, John Anastas,Vincent Lee, and Geri Sloat.
Meeting was called to order by Michael Golrick at 7:40 pm.
1. Most of the Committee Chair's report consisted of identifying the 1999/2000 Adult Leadership positions. Below is the draft of the assignments:

2. Scoutmaster Report: Mike Abrahamson passed out the Scoutmaster's Report to all attendees. Highlights included (1) the summer trip to Mt. Washington (2) Summer camp at Camp Yawgoog (3) 3 Eagles had their Courts of Honor and (4) Our Troop heavily participated in the Council's Annual Junior Leadership Training Course held at the Hoyt reservation. The boys received their red Trumbull Troop 68 Tee Shirt, neckerchief, and name tag, over the summer- and the troop looked sharp at Yawgoog. First meeting of the year is August 27th, first campout is September 17-19th.
3. There was no Treasurer's report.

4. Mr. Amidon discussed the website- and suggested e:mailing the parents the minutes to the parents meetings since most people have web addresses.
New Business:
5. Deena Begin mentioned she would like to encourage more participation with the Yankee Candle Fundraiser, which is scheduled to kick-off early September. A possible tie-in to the Salesmanship merit badge had previously been suggested.
6. Gear purchase- Vince Lee mentioned the new backpacking tents had been used during a recent crew campout and had worked out well.
