Troop 68 Parents' Meeting

May 3, 1999

St. Theresa School

The following 19 parents were present: Paul Viggiano, Mark Carpenter, Mike Abrahamson, Frank Katona, Andy Spally, Richard Alesevich, Tim Ryan, Rich Johnson, Jill Golrick, Jim Misencik, Geri Sloat, Donna Chudy, Ken Chin, Ray Gosselin, Bill Chin, Vince Lee, Frank Cintron, Bob Pescatore, and Jim Bailey. SPL, Brian Golrick was also in attendance.

Meeting was called to order by Frank Katona at 7:34 pm.

1. Paul Viggiano presented the Treasurer's Report- dues still outstanding total about $580 dollars- most of scouts owing are active scouts, so we anticipate collecting most of the balance; the financial statement as of May 3, 1999 was presented- it reflects a total cash balance less scout credit of $5,082.96; the scout accounts are reconciled.

2. Scoutmaster Report: Mike Abrahamson passed out the Scoutmaster's Report to all attendees. Highlights included (1) the second 10 mile hike in preparation for Mt. Washington was held at Beaches Park on April 17th, (2) Troop JLT was held on April 24th for boys in leadership positions .

3. SPL Brian Golrick reported that the PLC polled the scouts and most boys would like to have a Troop T-shirts and a Troop neckerchief. The boys will be asked about possible designs at the next meeting. There was a motion made to provide these items to the boys, and the motion passed. Mr. Bailey will pursue cost estimates after a design is chosen. Also, the candy fundraiser will start soon, one box will be distributed to each scout at the meeting on May 21st. Also, the PLC will start at 3:30pm from now on. Brian also indicated that the next elections will be held on May 21st.

4. Committee Chair Report: Mike Golrick was not in attendance, but Frank Katona reminded the group that there will be a Parent Orientation meeting at St. Theresa's school library on May 20th at 7:30pm. Although the program is most valuable to parents of new scouts, all parents who are interested in learning more about the Boy Scout program and the operation of Troop 68 are invited to attend.

Old Business:

5. Mr. Alesevich passed out Information Sheet #3 for the Mt. Washington trip along with a suggested itinerary. Interest in the trip has been excellent with over 50 people signed up. Much discussion took place about possible alternative activities, but the itinerary was not changed. The cost of the trip is $60 per person, and arrival at the White Mountain National Forest at Campton Group site "Area A" is scheduled for 3:00pm on July 10th.

New Business:

6. Mr Chin reminded the group that the Eagle Gift Fund was low considering the number of Eagles to be awarded this year- the motion was made and carried to collect additional funds, discussion with Mike Golrick will take place to resolve the details
