Troop 68 Parents' Meeting

April 5, 1999

St. Theresa School

The following 11 parents were present: Paul Viggiano, Mark Carpenter, Mike Abrahamson, Frank Katona, Andy Spally, Richard Alesevich, Bill Amidon, Rob Miller, Peter McCann, Alice Card, and Jim Bailey.

Meeting called to order by at 7:45 pm.

1. Paul Viggiano presented the Treasurer's Report- dues still outstanding total about $880 dollars; the financial statement as of April 5, 1999 was presented- it reflects a total cash balance less scout credit of $5,357.95.

2. Scoutmaster Report: Mike Abrahamson passed out the Scoutmaster's Report to all attendees. Highlights included (1) the boy scouts voted to make the two quartermaster positions a one year assignment, staggered in overlapping elections each 6 months; they also voted to make entrance into the crew open to all freshmen and above; they also voted NOT to change the SPL length of service- it remains a 6 month term in office.(2) A Troop run JLT was held on April 24th(3) other activities last month include a trip to Kendra Laboratories in Newtown, and the campout at Wah Wah Tay See.

3. Committee Chair Report: Mike Golrick was not in attendance, but submitted a written report which include: (1) Troop calendars for April through July and (2) announced that there would be a Parent Orientation meeting at St. Theresa's school library on May 20th at 7:30pm. Although the program is most valuable to parents of new scouts, all parents who are interested in learning more about the Boy Scout program and the operation of Troop 68 are invited to attend.

Old Business:

4. June Court of Honor is scheduled for June 4th, which is also the Old Mine Park camping trip.

5. Mr. Alesevich discussed the Summer Trip to Mt. Washington which is scheduled for Saturday July 10th through Tuesday July 13th. The camp site we will be at limits the Troop to 10 vehicles, over 50 people are signed up to go, so we have to find alternate parking sites for some vehicles.

6. Yawgoog reminder- the Troop is scheduled for August 1st through the 8th, updated medical forms reflecting a physical exam within the last year must be on file with the Troop or attendance to Yawgoog will be prohibited.

New Business:

7. The adult Quartermaster reported there was a great deal of missing gear, and the boys have been reminded at every meeting. Also, the group voted to replace a broken lantern.

8. The West Point Camporee for next year was discussed and a hand out circulated. The date is April 7th through 9th, 2000.
