Troop 68 Parents' Meeting

November 2, 1998

St. Theresa School

The following 14 parents were present: Tim Ryan, Michael Golrick, Hank Slesinski, Paul Viggiano, Bob Pescatore, Mark Carpenter, Rob Miller, James Bailey, Mr. Cintron, Frank Katona, Rich Johnson, Mike Abrahamson, Jim Misincik, Peter McCann.

Meeting called to order by Michael Golrick at 7:45 pm.

 

1. Paul Viggiano presented the Treasurers Report- Paul mentioned that we may have an additional income of $367.50 from the New Haven Ravens ticket sales, but this has to verified. A preliminary projection done by Paul indicates that gross Yankee Candle sales are down $800 over the prior year, and with the loss of the popcorn sales, total revenues could be down about $1,200 over last year. The Paul indicated that he will try to call a meeting of the Finance Committee (Mr. Bohnsack, Mr. Chin, Mr. Chudy, and Mr. Miller) and present a more formal view of the budget at the next parents meeting. Dues letter were mailed.

2. Mr. Pescatore presented the Scoutmaster's Report-

the next several campouts are scheduled as follows:

November Old Mine arrive 5:30-6:00 pm Friday November 13th

December Webb Mtn (?)

January Sequassen (Klondike)

February Sequassen

Court of Honor is Friday November 20th at 7:30 pm, all parents and guests should come. Hank Slesinski and Jim Bailey will collaborate on producing a Court of Honor Newsletter to be mailed as a reminder.

3. Mr. Golrick pointed out that 1999 is the 50th anniversary of Troop 68, and a committee consisting of the former scoutmasters was suggested, to chaired by Peter McCann to discuss recommendations on how best to recognize the occasion.

Other Business:

*A request to pass out the current list of scouts was made.

*Elections are to be held at this Friday's meeting, November 6.

*More time is needed for meal planning for the campouts, i.e., they need to be approved by an Assistant Scoutmaster this Friday before the meeting is adjourned.

*The District Roundtable will be held this Tuesday at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, all are welcome.

*Mr. Carpenter wished to point out that there was missing pieces of cutlery and other gear, parents should look out for troop gear and return as soon as possible.

*West Point needs to be followed up on to see if we are in the lottery.
